Candlelight Homes

By Peri Kinder

September 2, 2014

Today’s consumers can purchase smart TVs, smart phones and even smart water. Now Candlelight Homes builds a smart home. Every single house constructed by Candlelight includes a smart home package that gives homebuyers the ability to control the thermostat, security system and home lighting from their phone.

Candlelight is the only home builder in the state that includes this smart package free with every home, and it’s just one of the reasons the company’s sales are going through the roof.  In 2014, the Candlelight team will build approximately 230 homes, up from 180 in 2013.

Originally in land development, with more than 20 years of experience, the owners of Candlelight were able to secure some great property deals during the economic downturn as subdivisions were left half-built and abandoned by developers who didn’t have enough money to complete the projects.

Now the company has created a reputation of constructing quality homes with a distinctive variety of designs, amenities and locations, as well as the popular smart home addition.

“Every homeowner customizes their own house,” says Candlelight Homes partner Joe Salisbury. “They can change the floor plan, square footage—and not just moving a wall or two, but really making their home into what they’ve always wanted. And the smart home technology is pretty extensive. The system is hard-wired in every single home at no cost, and with no monthly fee.”

To stay engaged with homebuyers, the company is very active on several social media platforms, using Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube and Twitter to display the numerous homes available, as well as to create a social media community for their clients. The company also has several blogs, including Candlelight Lifestyle that provides recreation ideas and recipes, and How to Build a Parade Home, which offers advice on creating a luxurious living space.

As a local company, the owners are actively involved in the business and problem solve on a regular basis to keep clients happy, contractors engaged and developments on schedule. In the future, instead of working on expanding, Candlelight is looking for ways to become more efficient. “We can spend time and money expanding or we can spend time and money improving,” Salisbury says. “We want to streamline processes and procedures so we can keep our great brand and great quality.”

Candlelight Homes has developments along the Wasatch Front, as well as in Davis and Utah counties. It is committed to creating a pleasant home construction experience that includes state-of-the-art technology, beautiful home styles and plans, quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.
